10:00-3:00 pm - Traditions of Hawaiian Healing II with Kumu Alva Andrews

Kumu Alva James Andrews is a native of Hawai’i, a father, grandfather, and Viet Nam veteran.  Andrews is also a gifted spiritual and physical healer. His form of lomi lomi incorporates ho'oponopono (mental cleansing in preparation for long term results) This class goes further into the spiritual aspects of health. Open to all. Of interest to health practitioners, cultural practitioners, massage therapists.  Alva's form of lomilomi, or Hawaiian massage, incorporates the use of ho’oponopono, along with the traditional hand and body applications. Kumu believes that there is a connection between the spirit, the mind, and the physical body. Thus, the function of a good lomilomi practitioner is to harmonize the various parts of a person’s being, in order to make them permanently healthy and balanced. There is a spiritual, mental and emotional dimension that must be factored into the Holistic approach that Kumu uses. For him, then, lokahi, or unity, is what is needed to effect permanent good health. Kumu firmly believes, as his ancestors did, that the body cannot be healed until the spirit is healed. This is the key to what Kumu teaches and practices.

Eco Film Shorts & Bioneers Speaker Showcase - 6:00 - 9:00 pm
Special Eco-film showings & featured speakers from the 2009 Bioneers Conference. With community conversation facilitated by Michael Saiz founder of Hawaii Health Guide and Hawaii Healing Garden Festivals.

6:00-7:00 Eco-Film Shorts
A showcase of short Eco-Films about the global connection of people to food, economics, community and spirituality:
What Would it Look Like? (Global 15:34), Permaculture 101 (USA 3:16) , Seva Cafe (India 4:00) The Green House Project (South Africa 4:39), Knowing How to Nurture Ourselves ( India 4:19), Waking Up (India 3:34), Oneness in Abundance (USA 5:15).

7:00-8:00 Bioneers - Andrew Weil, MD - Environmental Health, Environmental Medicine
Human health and environmental health are inextricably interconnected, yet the education and training of doctors and health professionals largely ignore the subject. In reinventing the American health care system it is imperative to mobilize the health-care community as an ally in the environmental movement. The alliance could overcome the influence of vested interests that still block the legislative and policy changes we need to protect the health of people and planet.

8:00-9:00 Bioneers - Michael Pollan: "In Defense of Food: The Omnivore's Solution"
"Nutritionism," an ideology promoted by science, the food industry, government and the media that has hopelessly confused the issue and done nothing for our health, except to make it worse. Pollan traces the rise and triumph of nutritionism and the Western Diet, before proposing an alternative approach to eating that promises to improve both our health and the health of the environment.

Dreaming Bear
"DreamingBear is the best conscious poet on the planet. His love spells magically open the heart!"
~ Mark Victor Hansen, co-creator, Chicken Soup for the Soul
DreamingBear Baraka Kanaan is an internationally renowned award-winning author of eight books, transformational spoken word artist, and eco-peace advocate who elegantly blends quantum understandings of the universe with inner expressions of the heart. He is the founder of The Lovevolution Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering personal and universal transformation through ‘edutainment’ (making learning fun) & universal inspiration. “I have devoted my life's artistry to cultivating a living language of love spells for the new paradigms that captivate the senses and tickle the heart into a new consciousness that is playful, romantic, compassionate, and full of laughter.”

The foundation for DreamingBear’s work as a transformational spoken word artist is deeply attuned to the natural world. His work was further defined by a year spent living in the wilderness, alone and without all the conveniences a modern life provides. While in a deep communion with nature he began to take his artistry to a new level and developed many of the works that have proven to be inspiring to so many. Upon recognizing a great need for humanity to converge more deeply with the natural world, DreamingBear went on to spend many years of his life living off the grid making nature his canvas of choice as he sought to create new paradigm languages to inspire a higher level of consciousness.

DreamingBear has traveled the world extensively, sharing his message of unconditional love and fulfillment of personal potential with audiences as diverse as international dignitaries, corporate groups, and third world refugees. DreamingBear holds a master’s degree in communications, is completing his second MA in Native American philosophies, and is the author of Wild Love: Kissed Into Consciousness in addition to two spoken word CD’s. DreamingBear is a frequent guest in the media & a former college professor, now an acclaimed keynote speaker conducting seminars, interactive playshops, and inspired gatherings worldwide.

Let's celebrate the beauty of what IS!
