David Sigala is Kauai's Advanced Rolfer - a form of hands-on manipulation and movement education developed by Ida P. Rolf over 50 years ago, Rolfing Structural Integration works on the connective tissue (fascia) to release, realign and balance the whole body. Hawaii  MAT  License # 1987.

David is a member of the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration and a Friend of the Guild for Structural Integration with 30 years experience in this life-changing technique. David Sigala has been practicing Rolfing Structural Integration in Hawaii since 1985. He brings 30 years experience, his aloha, extensive skills of touch and heartfelt connection to see that people of all ages, from newborn infants to the elderly have a positive experience in their Rolfing process.

Dr. Rolf , a biochemist and physicist, felt that Rolfing Structural Integration was a discipline that worked with energy fields. She said that Rolfers so organized the body that the energy field of the body was best supported by the earth’s gravitational field. Rolfing Structural Integration enhances your posture and freedom of movement.

It is not painful, and may bring dramatic results such as: *injury recovery, including wrists, knees, and ankles *pain reduction, including neck, back, ribs, and spine *easier and better breathing *increased flexibility and range of motion *stress and headache relief *better balance, posture, and ease Rolfing Structural Integration is also an excellent complement to yoga, pilates and other personal alignment, movement, and wellness practices.

David Sigala has been practicing Rolfing Structural Integration in Hawaii since 1985, and is Kauai’s resident Rolfer. He brings 30 years experience, his aloha, extensive skills of touch and heartfelt connection to see that people of all ages, from newborn infants to the elderly have a positive experience in their Rolfing process. Prior to being certified as a Rolfer, he homesteaded in Alaska, worked as a scientist and teacher, went on a long journey to remote areas of the world, and trained in many ancient and new holistic health disciplines. David had many injuries, body rotations and constant pain as a result of his vigorous life as an adventurer. Rolfing did much more than “fix” him; it led him into a new life of strength through balance, ease of motion, clarity of thought and joyful energy.

As a community service, David founded the ULC Aurora Children’s Clinic in 1978 to bring together practitioners of the healing arts and disciplines who volunteer their services to give free sessions and evaluations for children and education for parents. This year he will look at how this Clinic may work to help the children of Kauai.

What is Rolfing Structural Integration?
Named after its founder, Dr. Ida P. Rolf, Rolfing Structural Integration is a form of bodywork that reorganizes the connective tissues, called fascia, that permeate the entire body. More than 50 years ago Dr. Rolf recognized that the body is inherently a system of seamless networks of tissues rather than a collection of separate parts. These connective tissues surround, support, and penetrate all of the muscles, bones, nerves and organs. Rolfing works on this web-like complex of connective tissues to release, realign, and balance the whole body. Essentially, the Rolfing process enables the body to regain the natural integrity of its form, thus enhancing postural efficiency and your freedom of movement.

The traditional 10 Session Basic Series developed by Dr. Rolf and known as The Recipe is still taught and used worldwide by the Guild for Structural Integration, which has a school on Kauai. The magic of the 10 Session Series is that people who receive the work continue to change in a positive manner for months afterwards. David also offers a 3 Session Series, a 5 Session Advanced Series, and Single Sessions designed to fit the needs of the individual.

What are the benefits?
Rolfing Structural Integration has the ability to dramatically alter a person’s posture and structure. Rolfing can potentially resolve discomfort, release tension and alleviate pain. Rolfing aims to restore flexibility, revitalize your energy, and leave you feeling more comfortable in your body. Athletes, dancers, children, business professionals, musicians, artists, and people from all walks of life have benefited from Rolfing. People seek Rolfing as a way to ease pain and chronic stress, and to improve performance in their professional and daily activities. It’s estimated that more than 1 million people have received Rolfing. Research shows that Rolfing creates a more efficient use of muscles, allows the body to conserve energy, creates more economical and refined patterns of movement and enhances neurological functioning. Research also shows that Rolfing significantly reduces chronic stress as well as the spinal curvature of people with lordosis (swayback).
