Elizabeth Jubin Fujiwara is one of the foremost labor law attorneys in Hawaii, and pioneered much of the sexual discrimination laws in Hawaii. She launched her law firm, which concentrates in employment and civil rights litigation as well as entertainment law, in 1986.

She was a founding author of Our Rights, Our Lives - A Guide to Women's Rights in Hawaii (Hawaii Women Lawyers, 1991 and 1996.) She is the author of numerous articles in publications including the University of Hawaii Law Review and Trial Magazine. She is a former Executive Director of the Hawaii Chapter of The American Civil Liberties Union, member of the Board of Directors of Hawaii Women Lawyers and Board of Governors of the Association of Plaintiff Lawyers of Hawaii.

She founded the Hawaii Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association and has served as its President from 1993-1996, as well as serving as an officer of the American Trial Lawyers Association Employment Rights Section each year since 1993. Ms. Fujiwara has lobbied extensively in the state legislature for civil rights since 1986. She lectures frequently in Hawaii and on the mainland, and has made many media appearances as an employee advocate. She is a graduate of Loyal University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Social Work degrees and the William S. Richardson School of Law, where she was on law review. She subsequently clerked for Walter M. Heen at the Intermediate Court of Appeals for two years.

Elizabeth was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, the heartland of American Jazz and Blues music. In 1995, she returned to her roots and connections amongst the New Orleans jazz music community in order to organize a jazz music festival for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Since that project, Elizabeth has been actively involved with musicians, authors, screen writers, film producers, and video production and record company executives. Elizabeth's love of jazz music has motivated her to contribute her legal and entertainment related experiences to furthering similar projects.

In 2001 the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) called and Liz answered. She became their Senior Trial Attorney in Hawai'i for the San Francisco District Office. At the EEOC when she wasn't litigating, she negotiated and mediated countless cases.

Her touchstone presentation on litigating sexual harassment claims became set for publication. All three-hundred and four pages are now available in Causes of Action, a set of law books (West/Thompson) attorneys consult on the elements that are necessary to win a case at trial. You can find the article in 27 COA2d 1 (March, 2005), Elizabeth Jubin Fujiwara and Joyce M. Brown, Cause of Action For Post-Ellerth/Faragher Title VII Employment Sexual Harassment Claims.

Liz has since been available for consultation for attorneys.

In the Katrina Aftermath Liz is looking to use her extensive background and experience to assist her native New Orleanians. She sends these thoughts out to all who were affected by Katrina:
